Retrospekt and AVCon – Together again in 2012!!

Retrospekt are continuing their association with AVCon in 2012 and we’re bringing you more than ever before. In 2010 we hosted our “Rare Consoles” panel, in 2011 we hosted panels based on “Anime in Retrogames” and “Ready Steady Retro: SNES vs Megadrive” as well as Ultimate Gamer: Super Retro Edition”. In 2012 we’re bring you more than ever before!!

While you’re browsing around the convention hall pay us a visit at the Retro Gaming Museum. We’ll be showcasing some of the finest retro machines and games known to man, as well as a few obscure classics. Sit down, have a play and watch some of the finest in indie retro viewing in our screening section. Check out the antics of Captain S, Little Miss Gamer, Rinry Game Game and the Retrospekt crew. Thanks to the good people at PBC Productions and Rinry for the use of their videos.

So drop by and say hi!! We will be operating the Museum throughout the whole weekend.

Thanks to the good people at Beyond Productions we will be running a screening of 90s Australian video game TV show “The Zone”. Three episodes will be played back to back (to back), so if you want to sit down and relive the brilliance of 90s gaming then check out the antics of Adz, Muttley, Bev and the gang. You can check out my personal memories of The Zone here and listen to my interview with host Muttlee here.

This year we will be running 2 panels. The first will be a 2 part focus on Dragonball in retro games. The panel will run for an hour on Saturday and an hour on Sunday. Relive the adventures of Goku and the gang on Nintendo’s classic systems, and like all Retrospekt panels there will be prizes and audience participation.

In the meantime check out my interviews with Dragon Ball stars Sean Schemmel and Kyle Hebert.

Last but certainly not least we will be hosting the first ever “Super Retro Game Trivia Challenge”. Members of the audience will be tested on their retro video game knowledge with the team from Retrospekt. Come along, enjoy the show and learn some fascinating (and not so fascinating) facts about the games of old.

Finally, expect Retrospekt interviews with the guests Cassandra Lee and Crispin Freeman!!

AVCon is on from July 27th – 29th at the Adelaide Convention Centre. For more details check out the website here.
